Change Your Voicemail Message

One thing that people often overlook is their voicemail message. I don't know why, but it seems that voicemail system is their lowest priority.

Just think about how many phone calls you receive each day. And then think about how many times you don't answer. Whenever you don't pick up your phone, person that is on the other side of the line hears your message.

Now, that's OK if that person knows your very well. Then he or she won't even listen to what you say and jump straight to recording his or her message to you.

The problem occurs when someone new calls you, someone who hasn't seen you before and didn't have a chance to meet you. If you don't have the best possible voicemail message, I don't think your first impression will be very good.

So basically, you should change it as soon as you can. Just imagine what would happen if you were applying for a job and someone calls you and hears you screaming on the other side, telling jokes etc. Or you are trying to sell something, and the same thing happens - do you think that person will call you back again?

Times when voicemail greeting was used to entertain others have passed. Today, voicemail messages are used as a form of self-promotion and marketing. Of course, that works for those that have the same phone number for personal and business life.

But in both cases, think about creating better message that will be informative.
